In today’s blog, we wanted to recap our recent outing with our Commissioning Engineer, Martin, who took us through the process of commissioning an Air Source Heat Pump for one of our customers.
If you didn’t already know, we design, supply and commission Heat Pumps and the purpose of this video is to give you an idea of what’s involved in the final process.
To give you some context, this project was for a new build site in Oxfordshire and 3 of the 9 jobs on the site were ready for commissioning. As Martin says in the video, installing a Heat Pump in a new build is a no brainer and clearly the Developer agreed. All 9 properties had a Samsung Gen 6 Heat Pump installed, plus underfloor heating for the downstairs. No doubt the new owners will love that!
We worked with South West Plumbing and Heating Ltd, who took charge of the installs and as you’ll see in the video, they did a great job installing the Heat Pump and making them look neat and tidy (we love to see it). Here are a few pictures:
If you’re new to installing Heat Pumps, there are a few key learning points you can takeaway from this video:
When you’re installing a Samsung or Mitsubishi Heat Pump, the 3 port valve is the opposite way round than it is from a traditional heating system.
The external brick work needs to be cored out to allow for the pipes entering the property to be insulated. If the pipework between the walls is missing insulation, the exposed metal will experience heat loss which will impact the efficiency of the system.
We recommend that the outdoor insulation be water and UV resistant to preserve the pipework as long as possible.
If you want to learn more about the process, click on the video below and Martin will talk you through it. Enjoy!
