Heat pumps are highly efficient and reliable, so they are considered key to cutting carbon emissions. However, as you’re probably aware, the initial cost of buying heat pumps and having them fitted isn’t cheap.
The good news is there are several grants available, including the Government’s BUS (Boiler Upgrade Scheme).
The Government is keen to help households move away from using costly fossil fuels and are supporting the target of installing 600,000 heat pumps a year by 2028. They’re providing significant funding for the rollout of heat pumps, making them cheaper and easier to install.
Recently launched is the £60 million Heat Pump Ready programme which aims to develop innovative solutions to reduce barriers to the rollout of low carbon technology in homes and businesses across the UK.
This innovation programme runs alongside the government’s £450 million Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), that provides up to £6,000 grants to homeowners towards the cost of a heat pump, along with a zero rate of VAT.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can provide you with up to £6,000 if you get rid of your old boiler.
BUS enables you to get up to £5,000 for an Air Source Heat Pump and £6,000 for a Ground Source Heat Pump. This scheme is only available in England and Wales, with the Home Energy Loan the main option in Scotland.
Alto Energy Limited works with both homes and businesses looking to get either of these heat pumps installed.
