Half of UK’s Electricity Provided by Renewables for First Time

The National Grid reported that on Wednesday 7th June 50% of the electricity produced across Great Britain was from a Renewable Source.

Nuclear and low carbon sources were producing 72.1% of the electricity across Great Britain.

The National Grid tweeted: "For the first time ever this lunchtime wind, nuclear and solar were all generating more than both gas and coal combined."

This is quite the milestone for the UK, and one that should be used to push forward renewable technology and get to that 100% Renewables target.

With a ground source heat pump or an air source heat pump you can do your part to help reach that target; not only that, you can also benefit from lower heating bills and benefit from grant payments in the form of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
