With heating oil prices increasing, and Government support at it's highest ever level, demand for Ground Source Heat Pumps is set to increase through this heating season and into 2018. Alto Energy is the UK's exclusive distributor for IVT Ground Source Heat Pumps, the most popular Ground Source Heat Pump in the UK market.
Expensive Heating Oil & LPG
Fossil fuel prices have been much lower in recent years compared to the heights that were seen around 2010.
However, recent trends have shown that the price of heating oil has been increasing over the past two years, with the threshold of £500 per 1000 litres not far off being broken.
LPG is priced even higher at around £580 per 1000 litres.
Heat pumps operate using electricity, however for each unit of electricity consumed, over 3 units of heat are delivered. This is possible due to the fact that heat energy is simply being moved from one place (the ground) to another (the home). This is far more efficient than creating heat energy, which is what happens in a traditional combustion boiler. In this case, only 0.75 units of heat are delivered for each unit of fuel consumed.
At these prices, the cost per unit of heat delivered is significantly lower for Ground Source Heat Pumps compared to fossil fuels, as demonstrated in the graph below. This shows that Ground Source Heating is 44% cheaper than Heating Oil, and 68% cheaper than LPG heating.
Renewable Heat Incentive
The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive ("RHI") is a government financial incentive to encourage a switch to renewable heating systems. If you join and comply with the scheme rules, you’ll receive quarterly payments for seven years. It’s a way to help the UK reduce its carbon emissions.
The current tariff for Ground Source Heat Pumps is 19.86p for each unit of renewable heat created by the heat pump.
Below is an example for a typical 4-bedroom detached property with a heat load of 20,000 kWh.
Annual RHI = £2,780
Annual Fuel Saving (vs. Oil) = £580
Total Annual Saving = £3,360
7-YEAR SAVING = £23,520
IVT Greenline
With over 8,000 units already installed in the United Kingdom, the IVT Greenline range of heat pumps is easily the most popular Ground Source Heat Pump in the UK market. Here are just some of the reasons why:
Bosch
IVT is a Bosch Group company. This means that all IVT products are sold with Bosch quality and Bosch reputation. All heat pumps are supplied with a 5 year Bosch warranty as standard.
The first IVT Greenline was manufactured in 1995, and since then over 300,000 Greenline Ground Source Heat Pumps have been installed in Sweden alone. The current generation - Greenline HE - is the fourth generation of this famous heat pump range.
Warranties up to 15 years
Through Alto Energy's commercial insurance partner, Arctic, we can offer extended warranties up to 15 years. This is a testament to the reliability of the products.
Packaged Unit
IVT Greenline Ground Source Heat Pumps are referred to as "packaged units", with modulating circulation pumps and a three port valve all contained inside the unit. This means that the installation is very straightforward, even for the inexperienced ground source heat pump installer.
MCS Umbrella
Alto Energy is the exclusive UK importer for IVT heat pumps and we offer an MCS umbrella scheme on all products that we supply. Under the umbrella scheme, Alto Energy takes responsibility for the design and sizing of the heat pump system, and provides a commissioning and MCS registration service.
