Analysis from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) last year has reported that the renewable energy sector now employs 11 million people on a global scale.
This is an increase from the 10.3 million people employed in the Renewable Energy sector in 2017.
IRENA director-general Francesco La Camera said:
“Beyond climate goals, governments are prioritising renewables as a driver of low-carbon economic growth in recognition of the numerous employment opportunities created by the transition to renewables.
“Renewables deliver on all main pillars of sustainable development – environmental, economic and social.
“As the global energy transformation gains momentum, this employment dimension reinforces the social aspect of sustainable development and provides yet another reason for countries to commit to renewables.”
Another Boost for the Heat Pump Market
The UK heat pump market has also been boosted by the recent UK Government to commit to 2050 net zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions. This will see the heat pump market grow significantly over the coming years, as fossil fuel boilers are phased out.
