Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump retrofitted into 50-60 year old property replacing existing gas boiler.
With a desire to reduce his carbon output, Mr Hardie decided to retrofit an air source heat pump into his existing property to replace his fossil fuel gas boiler, enabling him to do exactly what he set out to. In fact, Mr Hardie can expect to make CO2 savings of 5.1 tonnes per year. This is 75% fewer emissions than his old fossil fuel gas boiler.
Having installed the heat pump before March 2022, Mr Hardie will receive just shy of £8,600 back in Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments over the course of the next 7 years. Mr Hardie is in the construction business, but had not worked on heat pumps before. Mr Hardie sent one of his own fitters onto our Introductory to Installing Heat Pumps Training Course, to gain all of the knowledge they required to install the heat pump properly, with Alto Energy’s guidance and support through our MCS Umbrella.
Alto Energy’s Business Solutions Partner (BSP) status with Mitsubishi means that the heat pump has been supplied with a 5 years parts and labour warranty, compared to the normal 2 or 3 years. Tie this in with the Heat Pump Service Plan that Mr Hardie has taken out with us, means that he will get his pump serviced annually in line with manufacturer and RHI requirements, keeping the unit working efficiently and effectively year on year.
