In this blog series we look at just how easy it is for property developers to incorporate heat pumps into their latest housing developments. We are following a live project for 5 plots in Yorkshire with one of our regular developer customers, and describe each stage of the journey, highlighting how Alto Energy can bring value and convenience to your project.
Step 5: Aftercare & Ongoing Support
Once the heat pump is installed, commissioned and signed-off, for many installers that’s it. Job done. Well here at Alto we like to do things a little bit differently. As far as we’re concerned, the installation of the heat pump is just the first chapter, and once we’ve put our name to a heat pump by commissioning it, we want to make sure that the homeowner is happy, and has someone to call if they have any questions, or when things do go wrong.
Just like the majority of our developer customers, we’re passionate about customer service and we want to make sure that the customer is happy with their heat pump, and that they’ve got someone they can rely upon for service and repair. We’ve now worked with a number of developers who have had difficulties in the past with having access to the right back-up and support for homeowners, which is why we've placed such a focus on aftercare when shaping our sales proposition.
Looking After The Customer
When we do business with a housing developer, we always consider ourselves as having two customers. Up to the point at which the house is sold you, the developer, are our customer. However once the new homeowner has moved into the house, we consider the homeowner to be our customer too. And that’s why we’ve structured our comprehensive aftersales package the way we have. Fundamentally, both the developer and Alto Energy want the homeowner to get the full benefit from the heat pump system installed in the property.
TELEPHONE SUPPORT
One of the main things that puts developers off heat pumps is the perceived lack of back-up that is available. We provide unlimited telephone technical support to the homeowner, which is really important in those early days just after they’ve moved in, when they might have questions about how the heat pump works.
Service & Service Plans
Our nationwide team of experienced heat pump engineers are on hand to provide annual services for all the heat pumps we supply. An annual service is important for the continued efficient operation of the heat pump, and is also a requirement for the validity of the manufacturers’ warranties. Moreover, for homeowners it can be a good source of piece of mind knowing that the heat pump continues to be services by the same people who originally designed and installed it.
We offer a service plan package to all of our new heat pump installations. Prices start from £24 per month and include the annual service as well as unlimited call outs. To find out more about our service plans you can visit our dedicated webpage here.
Warranty & Breakdowns
In the rare event where something does go wrong (and things do go wrong from time to time, as with any piece of mechanical equipment), our nationwide team of engineers are on hand for call-outs and repair. A lot of the time with breakdowns it is usually down to an individual component failure. Rather than asking customers to deal direct with manufacturers, we handle all warranty administration ourselves and liaise with the manufacturers to arrange for warranty parts to be replaced.
